What it is, in two lines

Sound Tools is a tuner, a metronome and a sound analyzer in a single app for Android, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It works without an account and offline: audio is processed on the device and is never recorded or sent to any server.

What sets it apart

• Android and iPhone, the same app. The same tools, the same thresholds and the same text on both platforms. The only iPhone exclusive is the Apple Watch.
• The Apple Watch app works on its own. It isn’t a remote control for the iPhone: the tuner, the metronome, the setlist and the level meter run on the watch, with its own microphone, while the phone is switched off in another room. And there is a complication, so the tuner opens straight from the watch face without going through the app list.
• The watch metronome marks the beat with vibration, which is the only thing you can still feel in a rehearsal once the speaker can no longer be heard.
• The analyzer tells you how sure it is. It detects key and chords, and when it isn’t sure it says so, instead of writing down a made-up chord.
• Eight metronome sounds, with matched loudness, because a click that sounds like the instrument you play disappears exactly when you need it.
• It is fully translated into six languages. Not a translated store listing over a Spanish app: every piece of text on every screen, including the names of scales, chords and sounds, and what the screen reader reads aloud.
• Audio never leaves the device. There is no account, no server and nothing to sign up for.
